Be the Match Foundation holds bone marrow drive for Inland Empire resident

The holiday season is a season for giving. The best gift that a child who has Leukemia could receive is a bone marrow transplant so that he can enjoy the simple daily activities that the average five-year-old loves to do without feeling any pain or sickness. Be the Match Foundation will be holding a bone marrow drive for Marcus Smith and Armani Trice on Saturday, December 1 at Rock Honda Dealership in Fontana. The drive will be from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In efforts to support her son and after a month of finding out that her and her daughters were not the best match for Marcus, Antoinette “Toni” Smith contacted Be the Match Foundation and asked how they would be able to help.

“They were eager to work with our family in finding a match for Marcus,” Toni said. “I was very happy and prepared to do whatever I needed to do to support my son.”

Marcus Smith, of Fontana, and Armani Trice, of Moreno Valley, who are both five-years-old were diagnosed with life-threatening Leukemia in the past year and are in desperate need of bone marrow transplants in an effort to cure their illnesses.
