Glitz, Fun, Flirty, and business open up the Style Fashion Week LA runway

Fashion Week has been in full effect across the Globe for the past few weeks, and on Thursday, October 13, 2016 the runway shows for Style Week Los Angeles kicked off. This season’s show showcased the Spring/Summer 2017 lines from top designers in the fashion industry. Some of the themes that were shown on the opening night ranged from edgy, flirty, glitzy, and formal. I must say that the styles were definitely diverse and were perfect to open up the weekend of shows to come, and there was also two Black designers that were featured.

This year Style Fashion Week LA had a new home. The show took place at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood outdoors in the center’s fountain/garden area. It is a step up from the previous year’s of it being held at The Reef in Downtown Los Angeles and is a bigger space.

Doors for the acclaimed event opened up at 5 p.m. with a cocktail and social hour followed by the show, which started at 8:45 p.m. and concluded at 11 p.m. This year there was no opening performance, but the first designer, Julia Clancey, did a marvelous job of being the first one to showcase and also gave us a little theatrical debut mixed with her designs. Her piece opened up with royal and glitz theme where the models wore long robes and gowns that would remind you of Egyptian Queens. From there she went into a more flirty and fun theme of roller skates and colorful, playful wear followed by formal wear.
